Temptation doesn’t come from God. James 1: 12 “Happy are those who remain faithful under trials, because when they succeed in passing such a test, they will receive as their reward the life which God has promised to those who love Him.” So if you want to secrets to overcome temptation continue reading.
1. Love God: when you love someone, you don’t hurt them intentionally. Even though you hurt them, you apologize immediately because you don’t want them to be sad; you don’t want them to be mad at you.
2. Fear God: when you do something bad, your parents scold you. It’s the same thing with God. I don’t like punishment so I prefer doing the right thing so that God will not rebuke me.
3. Stay away from evil desires: the devil tempts you when you have desires, especially evil desires, and evil desires conceive sin. I don’t hang out with people who fornicate, so I won’t have that desire like them. According to the bible, “evil communication corrupts good manners.”
4. Blessing: when your faith succeeds in passing through trials, the result is the ability to endure. Anytime I want to fall into temptation, I just think that “if I enter temptation, then I won’t get God’s blessings, plus He will punish me too, nah too much stress.” After my hatred for the devil is my hatred for stress. Blessings can come in the form of you getting food to eat that day, getting your school fees paid, promotion, receiving credit alerts, publishing that book, and completing that project.
5. Contentment: if you are contented with the vegetables in your house, you won’t be checking out another person’s banquet and wishing to be like that person because you don’t know how that person got their money, you don’t know how many years that person hustled to get that money legally, and you don’t want to allow the devil to tempt you and ruin your life. When you are contented with what you have, you won’t be tempted to steal or kill.
6. Prayer: pray before, during, and after a temptation. Pray for the grace to overcome temptation. Say a prayer during a temptation for God to help you to stick by His side. And after the temptation, thank God for helping you to overcome the temptation. If you fell into the temptation, pray to God to forgive you your sins. Because sins lead to death.
7. Fasting: the flesh causes you sin, so when you fast, you gain control of over your flesh. Fasting weakens your flesh, thereby strengthening the urge to conquer temptation.
