Having parents, when one of them gives you too much love and the other one gives you little to no love makes you experience different things every day. Below are some of the things I wished my parents practice while raising me.
There’s a big difference between :
1. The parent punishes the child over and over. For example,
“You’re grounded! Go to your room”
and
The parent focuses on solving the root problem. For example,
“Let’s talk about why you’ve been behaving that way lately. Is everything alright?
2. The parent tells the child what to do. For example,
“Don’t touch that”
and
The parent explains why it’s important to do. For example, “If you touch a hot stove you will burn yourself and feel hurt”
3. Parent compares child to others. For example, “Why can’t you be more like Jojo?”
and
Parent supports and inspires their child to be themselves. Example,
“I love you exactly the way you are.”
4. Parent has unrealistic expectations of the child. For example, “You better be the captain of the team or else.”
and
The parent encourages the development of the child’s goals/ dreams. For example, “What makes you happy? Let’s do more of that”

BACK TO YOU
“It’s not easy to be a parent and it’s not easy to be a child.” – Racket boys.
Nobody is perfect but there are certain things that parents do which form the way we look at the world, whether we should trust people or not
I hope you can be the best version of yourself no matter the parents you grew up with.
